Dr. Kao was quite active at this year’s annual meeting of the American Academy of Religion, which took place in Chicago from Nov 17-20.

She served as the respondent to an Asian North American Religion, Culture and Society Group panel on “Asian North American ‘Conservative’ Christian Communities, Masculinities, and Gender Issues.” 

She also organized and served as a panelist for a panel entitled “Thinking about Animals, Activism and Religion from the (Human) Margins: RAce, Colonialism, and Culturel Imperialism” int he Animals and Religion Group. Her paper was entitled “Asian Americans and Comtested Food: Shark Fin, Dogmeat, and Milk.”
