Professor Kao led a discussion at the first Progressive Asian American Christians (PAAC) conference since the pandemic on the various ways individuals and couples become parents beyond natural conception.
She spoke about how and why she became her friends’ surrogate (as per her recently published book, My Body, Theiry Baby: A Progressive Christian Vision for Surrogacy), reciprocal IVF among lesbian couples, oncofertility (treatments for cancer patients and survivors to preserve their fertility), and how common infertility and reproductive losses are.
