In light of the 2023 AAR theme “La Labor de Nuestras Manos,” Grace Kao was one of the book authors in this session addressing the intersection of women’s daily experiences and the academy.
The panelists reflected on their recent book publications while considering the factors that perpetuate stereotypes and create taboos around the worth of women’s scholarly works. They explored topics that are often avoided within academic discussions, such as childbearing, surrogacy, parenting, abortion, rape, and disabilities, and addressed the question if the lack of engagement with such topics contributes to economic injustices and other justice realities.
The session was co-sponsored with the Women’s Caucus and the Feminist Liberation Theologies Network.
